The best free Softie and Plushie patterns

More than 30 free patterns for all sorts of fun softies and plushies that kids will love.

Hi! Stephanie from Swoodson Says again and I’m really excited to share this round-up of the best free softie sewing patterns with you. I have a 2.5 year old son who I love to sew for – I started designing PDF patterns for toys  because I wanted more imaginative options for toddlers! Softies are my very favorite, keep up with my Pinterest board if you love them too!

Softies are a great way to use up smaller pieces of fabric – you can get creative with embellishments, embroidery and accessories (I love adding felt “eyeglasses!”). No one is too old for snuggly toys!

Here you'll find a collection of plushies and softies that kids of all ages will love, and for all skill levels too.  The little ones don't notice your wonky stitching, the eyes that aren't quite level – it's all part of the charm and what makes each one unique.

For more ideas, check out these other round ups.

Great collection of all sorts of sock animals to sew. The sock monkey of course, but lots of other patterns too for other animals.More than 30 sewing patterns, tutorials and inspiration for Easter Bunnies to sew.

Can’t wait to try a couple of these for my new grandson. I’m an intermediate sewer but have never really made toys. Any tips that will help me be successful.

Thanks for all your patterns you share.

I like big animal patterns. I find your animal patterns are so small. But I enjoy making stuff toys.

Hi Debbie
Your link to How to Make a Sock Monkey (the rainbow stripe one) doesn’t work for me – can you please take a look at it?
Many thanks, Di
