Free patterns for Halloween costumes to sew

Halloween costumes to sew for kids and adults, all free patterns.

So as Halloween fast approaches I’m feeling the pressure to come up with the best possible costume… something quick and easy to sew, and an easy picture tutorial to follow… free of course! Well if you feel the same you’ve come to the right place. I’ve put together the best free costume tutorials I could find. While lots of them are for children, I’m sure you can size them up for ‘big kids’ too!!

Some of the costumes use cheap plain items you can find in Target, a thrift store or your local shop or wardrobe, and you can ‘upcycle’ them to create the perfect costume for Halloween. Some other great ideas I found, like the ‘furry ears’ just make a great quick accessory to a normal outfit.

There really is a Halloween costume here for everyone, even the man in your life can get dressed up with the up-cycled knight costume! If it’s the little man your looking to dress up look at Prince charming.. it’s easier than it looks and the tutorial is really helpful. But for me the winners are surely the princess costumes, and if you have a bit of time on your hands some such as Belle and Cinderella are quite adorable!

Have you any other ideas for Halloween costumes? We’d love to hear about them.. and if you make one of these costumes why not share your work on our Facebook page or our sewing chatroom, it would be so cool to see how your work turns out!!

Happy Halloween!!
