You read last month that I am starting out on a range of paid sewing patterns and tutorials and I introduced you to the Boxy Bag. For the October pattern, it's the Super Simple Wallet sewing pattern.
New to sewing? Know someone who is? Or perhaps looking to extend your skills towards bag making? Maybe you want to teach your daughter to sew. Or even run a sewing basics class. This project is ideal for your very first sewing pattern, but if you already know how to sew, you can sew these up a storm in no time. And they're great for gifts too.
This Super Simple Wallet is a perfect beginner tutorial for anyone starting out in sewing. Follow along the instructions carefully and you will get a great result and make something you can use or give as a gift – or even sell! You can make things to sell using this pattern without restriction.
Features:
- Press stud fastening
- Room for 6 cards
- Two spaces for a few folded up bills, coupons, notes or stamps
- Easy but super cute!
Finished size
Closed the wallet measures about 4 inches by 3 ¾ inches. When open, it’s about 4 inches wide by 8 inches long.
And don't worry – there's another FREE sewing pattern coming to So Sew Easy later this month.
Do you have any requests or suggestions for future sewing patterns? I'd love to know what you would like – there's nothing I like better than keeping you all happy! Drop me a line any time or leave a comment on any of the posts – I read them all.

Is the fusible stiff interfacing called for in the pattern, double sided fusible or single side fusible? Thank you. Edna NC
Yes you can do that, just make sure your machine can handle it.
I’ve made several of these and they are just perfect for gifts! The last one I made I even used Harry Potter fabric and it came out adorable. I don’t see a way to upload a photo or I would share.
Hi Tracy, I took away the widget to allow people to upload pictures, it cost me money and people were not really using it, but I can add your picture if you send it to me at mayra@so-se-easy.com
Could the outsides of this wallet be redone with a slot to slip in ID badges. As a sub teacher, I work for 2 different agencies; thus, two different IDs. And I need a little pocket inside for a few dollars so I don’t have to lug my purse around school.
I was thinking of just leaving the outsides open so the IDs can be seen, having a slot in which to slide the IDs into. Where would the closure go? Does this sound impossible?
Yes of course!
Perhaps you could add a little lightweight clear vinyl window to the outside.
Love the wallet idea, but really need a coupon keeper. Looking for one along this same line only a trifold, when folded the finished size is about 9″ tall and 6″ wide. Left side has maybe 3 pockets for coupons, middle has an 8″x5″ tablet for grocery list, and right side has 1 pocket for coupons I am going to use next grocery day. This would be the right size for carrying with you into the store. Should be of sturdy construction, not floppy. If you have a pattern similar please send it my way. Thank you.
Hi Ladies, I make heart pillows for breast cancer patients and am always looking for uses for my wibbly-wobbly scraps. I just made one of your Teeny Tiny Zipper Pouches yesterday – ideal (even more ideal if one end of a zip hadn’t popped out.. heyho, propotype). I’m being super-meany here… any chance of not having to pay for your pattern for the SSW? Cheesy grin… It is all in aid of all those ladies (& some men too) suffering pain. I sell mostly at the British Club of the Taunus (Germany!) Christmas Fair, so only one chance in the year to get some more dosh in to buy more fabric, to make more heart pillows, etc. A never-ending-story… Love your stuff – and as someone said on your blog, it is SOOO nice to here a British accent (I’m Scottish and living up to our reputation). Or maybe I should just wait for your freebie in a few weeks? Thank you for listening to my rant! Alison from Edinburgh but now 50/50 German/British. Like most Brits here we’ve gone half-native – wonder why?!?
Super nice.I would appreciate if U could teach how to make an accordion wallet/purse.I tried many times but fail especially how to sew the zipper..thank you!!
