So excited. Started working on my next free pattern - a Christmas Party Dress...The perfect little black dress?

I'm working on the next free pattern – I think you'll love it!
Do you have lots of parties to go to this year?
Can’t wait to see the whole dress! I know its super!
Hi Deby, it already looks amazing, can’t wait to see what the finished project will look like!
I love reading your blog by the way. I was wondering if you could explain how you grew from a beginning sewer to where you are now in such a short time. Did you just practice a lot? I know you followed craftsy courses (I do too, thats where I found your projects first), but I still find the quality of my projects vary from nice enough to wear to “yikes!” I would love to hear how you perfected your techniques to the point where you were confident to wear what you made yourself.
Thanks and keep up the great blog!
Krista
Hi Krista, secret – if its a real clanger, I might not even finish and it doesn’t make its way to the site at all! So yes, I still have utter disasters – usually 100% my fault where I sewed something entirely wrongly, or cut something wrongly, or just simply didn’t pay attention properly. No idea how that could happen 😉 So not everything I make is always perfect. But it really is Crafty courses that made all the difference. I’ve taken lots now, although I haven’t finished them all or written about them all on the site here yet – too much busy-ness, not enough blogging time! These days recently I’ve not had the time to sew as much as I would like, but I’m really hoping to get back into it soon and have some finished projects to share. And hopefully ones that work out!
Ah thanks for your answer Deby! Glad to hear Craftsy made such a difference, I have followed two courses now, and have a lot more waiting for me. Just like you, it sometimes is hard to find time! I look forward to your next projects!
Deby, I am amazed at how much you accomplish! I never seem to get anything done. The new black dress looks like a winner. Thank you! I did, however, finally got that ruffle clutch made. I need to send you the photos, if I can figure out how. Everyone loves the purse and can’t believe I made it.
Well done on making the purse – I’d love to see some pictures. And if you look, I actually didn’t get round to much sewing this month! My fabric stash is a bit low and I was still out enjoying the lovely weather we have here, so I blogged about sewing, but didn’t actually do much, apart from silly projects like a cat bed and some pockets for the bimini cover on my boat – no one wants to see those!
Deby, can you tell me how to send you the photos of the purse? I’m kind of techno challenged! I know how to attach them to emails, but not to someone’s blog. Is there a special location I go here to do it? Thanks.
Hi Robin, you can send me photos on email to deby@so-sew-easy.com – that’s the easiest way! Excited to see what colors and fabrics you picked.
ohoo…that cute little thing looks already amazing. Now I am excited too.
I must admit, it looks difficult to a beginner like me…but I´ll see soon…
Curious greetings from Germany!
It’s not TOO difficult. But its not stretch, so you would need to add a zip and make fitting adjustments like any regular pattern. But the lace is actually surprisingly easy!
