Have you ever thought about making your own curtains?

Perhaps you moved house recently, or you've just been overtaken by the urge to redecorate.  If so, you might want to think about making your own curtains.  This is an easy and usually pretty quick project which can also save you lots and lots of money compared with getting someone else to make them for you.

We've moved house many times over the last few years, so this is something I've done quite a lot of.  If you can believe it, I'm still in the process of decorating the new house we moved to over a year ago.  The other day, I wanted to get started on the curtains.  I was interested in finding some new ideas that would help make the look of the house special.  As you know, there are many, many shapes and styles of curtains.

While we've some curtain tutorials on So Sew Easy before –please see the one linked below in Easy DIY Curtains–, I wanted to make sure I had a look around to see all the options for different looks and styles from basic sheers all the way up to complicated layered curtains that resemble theatre curtains

So, as I often do, I put together a huge list of free curtains sewing patterns to look through with my family.  I'd like to share this list with you below in the event you get the curtain-making bug too!

I have always sewn my own curtains. It is easy and faster than waiting for a company to have it done. It also safes more than a simple sewing machine will cost.
