My sewing room is a happy sort of chaos, and the only thing that ever truly tames it is a row of fabric baskets. They hold scraps, ribbons, half finished projects, and the endless little tools that wander off, and unlike plastic tubs they are soft, pretty, and made from the fabric I already love. A fabric basket sews up fast, uses very little material, and teaches you tidy boxed corners along the way. Add a layer of stiff interfacing or fusible fleece and even a soft cotton stands up smartly on its own. They make wonderful gifts too, filled with treats or baby things and given just as they are.
