Last year, I wrote this Christmas message from Dungog, NSW, Australia. Yet again this year, I'm writing from the southern hemisphere where it is mid-summer and thus sunny and warm, but this year my family and I are in Santiago, Chile.
While it's not as hot here now as it was last year in Dungog, it's still definitely summer time. The days are long and there is nothing but sun. The air stays relatively cool from the nearby Andes mountains which make a beautiful backdrop to the east of the city.
We spent most of last year here. My daughter Samantha is finishing high school. My son learning Spanish which is my native language and my husband is working on a business project. So we're all very busy and enjoying it.
It's been so wonderful to see the progress that the many beginner sewists who follow our blog have made during the year. I hope that we also kept the more advanced readers busy and interested with new free patterns, projects and articles throughout the year.

I wanted to take a quick moment to wish all our readers a very Merry Christmas. Thank you so much for all your support and helpful comments throughout the year. I'm really looking forward to bringing you new, fun and exciting sewing projects in the year to come.
Best holiday wishes from Santiago!

I ran late this year with trying to get cards out to family and friends, but did the electronic thing as much as possible. I’m sorry to say I missed you in wishing you a Merry Christmas, I hope it was great, and a very Happy New Year. I had such great plans for this holiday and then it was here and I wasn’t ready. Oh well next year I’ll try again. My best for a wonderful New Year.

Thank you Jessica, sending you a warm hug!
I hope everyone is having some great holidays. I love the latest pants pattern you have shared. The same paper bag pattern was available in the very late 70s and the early 80s. Thank you so much for the pattern. I lost my other one in the early 80s and haven’t seen any since. You would not believe how long I have been looking for a description of how to put thumb holes in a long sleeved garment. My granddaughter won’t wear anything with long sleeves without a thumb hole. If I make her anything without one, she just cuts one herself. She turned 13 earlier this year, and knows everything about everything. I’ll just have to wait for her to get older for me to be any smarter. lol The older my kids got, the smarter I became. And, as always, I appreciate everything you share with us. Cheryl Masters
And a very Merry Christmas to you as well, from sunny South Africa. May your family be blessed in the year to come!
