We usually write an article for Fridays, but seeing today is a special day for many, and a day when we think you will all have better things to do than sew, we are just popping in to say Merry Christmas, if that applies to you. Enjoy your day.
Thank you for all of your support this year and we hope you are relaxing, eating well and enjoying time with your family and with your sewing machine.
Mayra – I've got teenage kids so they will usually sleep in. Then I make a nice breakfast and immediately start to work on the dinner. Christmas is a working day in Singapore, and can be very commercial, but we keep it a family day. Still somehow I seem to spend the day in the kitchen when I would much rather be sewing! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Santa will perhaps bring me something from my sewing wish list this year.
Deby – My hubby is working today, the curse of working in the tourism industry, so we'll be joining friends for dinner this evening. About 40 friends! Everyone works during the day and then meets up for a big dinner in the evening, because everyone here is away from home and family. So I'll be busily cooking up a storm and getting tables and chairs ready, last-minute decorations, trying to fit more food into the fridge…you get the idea.
If you do pop in, let us know in the comments what sewing goodies you got in your stocking this year.
Have a great day everyone.
Ciao Deby, I’m Caterina and I’m writing from Italy.
Buon anno (which means happy new year in Italian) !!!
For me it is very strange to see a Christmas tree and the sun outside the window in the same picture: here is freeeeeezing cooooold!
I have been following you from some times now and wanted to thank you for the great help you gave me with your tutorials and free patterns.
I decided to write to you because I just fell in love with the blue dress with white stripes you are wearing in these pictures: is this one of your patterns???
I would really love to do it.
Thanks so sew much for being on the web!!
Ciao,
Caterina
Sorry, no, this isn’t one of mine, but an old one from my wardrobe from before I started sewing. I always planned to try to make a copy from it and if I do, I’ll make my own version available here one day.
Hope you enjoyed Christmas. What a lovely photo. The lights behind you look beautiful!!
Merry Christmas. I got a brother scan & cut.Something more to learn.
Merry Christmas Deby and Mayra. I was dressed in a skirt, short-sleeve top and sandals myself on Christmas day, down south of Houston, visiting family. Very humid and warm, which I hate. For Christmas, I got myself a US ART SUPPLY® Lightmaster® Large 24.3″ Diagonal Professional (A3) 12″x17″ LED Lightbox Board, and a huge selection of Aurifil threads from Craftsy (great price).
Wow! That sounds like a great Christmas present. Let us know what you end up making with it. Kind regards, Mayra
Wow, sounds like a great Christmas present! Let us know what you end up making using the lightbox. Kind regards, Mayra
Merry Christmas and happy new year too! I have a teaser in my blog feed for your “How to use a binding foot” post that preceeded this one. But when I click on it, the result is “Page not found”. Is this post available?
Coming up soon Janee but not yet ready. Keep watching 🙂
Thanks, Deby – I figured it must be in edit mode or something! I’ll keep watching, I have one of those feet and have never been comfortable with it!
Deby, love the dress. Is that one of yours??
I admit that I bought this one, but it was a number of years ago before I started to sew. I plan to replicate it one day because its a very comfortable fit.
Happy Christmas to all the sewists. My husband gave me the latest catalogue of attachments and sewing feet for my sewing machine(?) And two packets machine needles!
Love that quilt, it is beautiful x
Thanks very much Mary. With such bold colors, it didn’t need anything more than a simple pattern to really make it pop!
Merry Christmas to you all too.
Thanks! Any Merry Christmas to you too. Take care, Mayra
