In the recent Readers Survey, there were a lot of comments made, questions asked and areas of interest raised. Far, far more than I can cover here. You all clearly have a very wide range of sewing interests from sewing vintage styles to sewing for men, to sewing very specific types of clothing, and more.
I love that! I wish I could truly cover everything that you were all interested in. But it's simply just not possible unless I write something everyday, for years. But between us, and especially between all of you – there are decades of sewing experience. I bet there isn't a sewing question, dilemma or problem that someone reading this couldn't answer.
All that sewing experience and knowledge – that is a very valuable resource for us to have access to.
So I thought it could be fun to introduce a monthly feature – Readers' Questions. You send in your sewing related questions, I'll share them here and then they will (hopefully) be answered in the comments. I think it's worth a try. There's a new page – Ask A Question, which you'll find in the menu at the top. Click there, submit your question and I'll let you know when it will be featured on the site.
What do you think?
I think this is such a great idea. As a sewing teacher for beginners I love to share sewing techniques and tips that I’ve learned along the way and hope to be able to give some helpful answers.
Excellent and I look forward to reading all the questions and hopefully answers!
This is way fun! I’ve been sewing for 53 yrs and quilting for most of them. I’ll be happy to answer questions that are asked. Thanks Deby!
There are several coming in already – there will be plenty to keep you busy I think. Look forward to reading all your advice Vicki
Love the idea of a sewist community for anywhere on this planet.
I think that I could answer some questions, because I have been sewing since I was 9 years old, that makes 59 years, but I do not know everything and I am still learning
Wow Barb, we all very much look forward to your input. You must have come across a lot of sewing dilemmas and solved them in that time.
This is such a GREAT idea as I know you have some very experienced readers & some newbies as well. I absolutely LOVE the online sewing community & the fact that everyone is SEW willing to share talents! Thank you Deby for ALL your efforts, your giving of time, energy & expertise as I’m sure this blogging takes a pretty good chunk of your day & you do it for US!!! You ROCK as far as I’m concerned!!!
I do it really so I don’t have to spend too much time with my husband Chelle! (Only joking – he’s great really.)
That’s a great idea!!
I’m currently “culling the herd” of blogs that I receive. There is some stiff blog competition out there on the internet. So many GREAT blogs, so little time. Over the last few years, I’ve signed up for too many and now after 13 years as a stay-at-home-mom, I am back at work part-time (and lovin’ my job). However, though I definitely need to cut back, there are some blogs I won’t give up; and yours is one of those.
Thanks for a great blog!!
Aww, that’s lovely. So glad to hear I made the cut Judie. I know what you mean though about quantity. Just a few days off and my RSS reader tops out over 1000 unread blog posts. Too much time online and not enough sewing.
It sounds like a great idea to me.
I think it’s an excellent idea. My own sewing experience began as a teenager in high school home economics class, but I didn’t really get serious with it until the past four years. Most of what I’ve learned has come from reading tutorials and other readers comments. I love learning and sharing whenever possible.
I’ve already been getting submissions so the first one will run next week.
