A little while back I asked your opinion about sewing videos. not just the ones I make, but in general.
When you are sewing a project, whether its a bag, something for the home or an item of clothing, in what format do you like the instructions.
Let's take a look at the results:
Well, first it was reassuring to see that no one picked the last option and said the videos were rubbish. Phew, I wasn't sure!
It looks like most people would want at least the written instructions with step by step photos. The majority wanted both, the written with photos and the video. Comments were all lovely and so supportive. Thank you everyone for your feedback. It really helps me keep on track and plan out my content for the coming year. Due to the time constraints we all suffer from, I can't promise to provide all of the options all of the time, but I'll do my best.
Some things are still best described on video I think rather than photos. I have a pattern hacking project I want to explain to you soon and I'm thinking photos with lines drawn on everywhere would just be mind-bloggling!
I'll soon be asking your opinion again about what you would like covered this year and what skills you are looking to learn.
I also asked some time back about what Craftsy class you wanted to see reviewed. Here's the results of that one too:
The winner was 40 Techniques Every Sewer Should Know, followed closely by
- Sew Smarter: 30 Professional Techniques and then pretty equally,
- Beginner Serging and
- Pattern Drafting from Ready to Wear
I'll take note and work those classes and reviews into my schedule for the upcoming months.
Wow, I've got a lot to cover, learn and try out this year. I think it's going to be a very busy year. I only hope I can keep up with all of my plans and goals. Thank you so much to everyone who answers one of my polls, leaves a comment or a reply. I love having all of you other sewers to chat with!
And while I mention CHAT – don't forget to check in on the FORUM from time to time. Share what you sew, not just from this site, ask and answer sewing questions or just chat about whatever takes your fancy.
I love your videos, I watch all the way through then I also play it while doing the project.THANK YOU
Congratulations Deby,
I am so happy for you! All your hard work has paid off.
I am a visual learner i appreciate the videos
Saw the Craftsy win – congratulations & thanks for a great blog! It’s obvious that you put a lot of time into doing this. I, for one, appreciate the patterns & tutorials 🙂
You won! Congratulations, Deby…. you would still be my favourite in my heart whatever the outcome, but it will be nice to see that cute button in your sidebar. 🙂
CONGRARULATIONS on being the favorite blog on Craftsy.
Thank you so much. I’ve not had a chance to publish a thank you yet, but no doubt you’ll see me doing a happy dance! I wish I could take most of the credit, but its really down to all the dedication of those who voted for me, and have supported and encouraged me along my sewing journey. The team we have built here is what makes the site a success I think.
