It's official! The Sewing Wallets: Step by Step class is now live on Craftsy after what has been months of behind the scenes work, and more than 70 wallets sewn! There are 3 simple wallet projects you can sew along with lots of tips along the way to help you all get great results. These simple projects are even suitable for those who are fairly new to sewing as Deby teaches you everything you need to know, every step of the way.
You’ll get the opportunity to learn:
- 3 different closures you can use on your wallets, and how to install them
- how to sew a zipper pocket without a zipper foot (although you can still use one of course if you are comfortable with it)
- how to fold and sew pockets for your bank cards to minimise bulk and raw edges
- about the different types of interfacing that are suitable for wallet making
- how to sew both fixed and removable wrist straps, and the hardware you’ll need
- 3 different wallet patterns all based on a similar set of starting elements, the last one being a customizable project
- tips for neat and accurate top stitching
- how to keep interfacing from sticking to your iron
- and more…
Do drop on over to Craftsy and check out the projects and the techniques that are covered in the class. There's a quick introductory video you can watch.

Are any of these wallet patterns available to purchase as patterns rather than as the class? Thanks
Hi Courtney, this is our most popular wallet pattern by far: https://so-sew-easy.com/ultimate-wallet-sewing-pattern/
Love the work, no doubt it takes time to create such beautiful stylish wallets. It help to be part of creative world in leisure time it is a excellent DIY activity. The wallets shown here looks like a wallet perfectly designed in the factory.
Just finished the class…LOVE it! Deby is by far one of my favorite teachers!! She makes it look “so sew easy” lol
I’m so glad you enjoyed it Ginny.. Would you be so kind to leave a review of the class. It’s very new, so getting some reviews would help others decide if it’s right for them. And I’d love to see what you sew!
I bought the class straight away and then fell into the problems with the site after the upgrade. However, although I can see the classes again and most of the projects area in previous classes I CANNOT get to the projects area for this class and I want to upload my completed Pop to the Shops Wallet. I’m so pleased with it and the class was genius, thanks Deby.
What really annoys me is the statement that they have been working on the upgrade for over a year and completed EXTENSIVE testing – Really??? This mess is inexcusable for a company like Craftsy.
I agree that it’s very frustrating, and I’m sorry you can’t load up your project yet because I would love to see it. I think they have run into more problems than they were expecting and it will take a while to fix everything. We just have to be patient and one day soon it will be back to the fully-working Craftsy that we all loved! Soon I hope.
If you want to see it I have just put it up on my blog. I hope you don’t take offence at my comments!!! http://jellybeanjan.blogspot.co.uk/2016/10/a-wallet.html
I love it! Thanks for sharing.
I bought the class this morning before work and watched the steps on how to make the super simple wallet. Now I’m halfway through making one and it’s great how accessible you made the steps.
That’s great Miranda. I’m so happy that you are having success.
Hi,
Just to let you know, NOTHING is working right on Craftsy! Can’t find my wish list, can’t use my app, and since when did we have a favorites area? I go to Craftsy every day, at least once…why do people try to fix things when there not broken? I hope “the new and improved” is worth it!
Sorry girls, I’m just venting!
Nancy
I can’t wait to take this class! I’ll keep checking back.
Deby does a great job teaching the class. I loved the class, You all with really love the class, She goes step by step in detail and makes it so simple and easy to sew 3 different kinds of wallets. Thank you Deby.
Thank you so much Kelly. Glad you were able to get in before Craftsy went a little crazy! I hope you’ll leave a review on the class and show some pictures of what you’ve been making.
I was hoping to use your links to sign up for the class but I is does not appear to be working right, I will keep checking back to see if the link adds the discount – it looks like a great class!
Maria
Hi Maria, all the Craftsy specials are not working at the moment. Please check back in a few days and we will relaunch the promotion.
Thank you Mayra – I definitely will! The class looks great!
I was hoping to find the discount link for this class – it looks great! I will keep checking back!
I was wanting to buy this with the extra discount from the so see easy group, but the discount has disappeared, it should have been until the3rd of October, please could you inform me what has gone wrong, my email is glanfieldh@yahoo.com. Many thanks Heather
Hi Heather, Craftsy is making some major upgrades to its website this weekend and the discount links are not working at the moment. We have agreed with them to extend the sale past the 3rd of October once they are up and running again. We’ll make an announcement on the site when we relaunch the offer so please stay tuned.
It’s just a case of bad timing that the class came out just a few days before the Craftsy site relaunch – and now the links have broken and don’t redirect properly or give the right pricing. Craftsy are aware and will work to correct it as soon as they can. Sorry about that.
