The Wear Everywhere Skirt – free pattern

Wear Everywhere Skirt

Everyone needs a wardrobe of good basic skirts. Ones you can wear every day or for lots of different occasions.  This Wear Everywhere Skirt fits the bill perfectly.  A classic straight skirt with a single inverted pleat center front, makes this skirt easy to wear, ideal for the office, working, shopping, the school run – in fact, anywhere and everywhere.  Once you’ve got a great fit on this skirt, mark up your pattern because it’s a quick and easy sew you’ll want to make again and again.

We've talked before about sewing ‘real clothes for real women‘- sewing the sort of clothes you wear everyday, rather than too many fancy-smancy dresses and jackets that you rarely wear.  You'll get plenty of wear from this every-day skirt.

Wear Everywhere Skirt

I've made mine in a plain fabric so you can see the pleat detail easily, but this would look equally good in a small print.  Or even a stripe.  How about splitting the pleat down the center to follow through on the center front seam, and using a stripe to create the chevron effect that's all in fashion right now!

I’d love to try this when I’m on vacation

I am really disappointed to see that on this pattern when I print it out there are no borders on the paper to help me determine the proper way of taping the pattern pieces together. I was really looking forward to making this skirt but I can’t even get the pattern together. I would be happy to take it to a print shop but I don’t know what settings they are supposed to print it on or what size paper so I know that it is right.

This is the easiest skirt I have made (and I am only a beginner). Thank you so much. I couldn’t have done it without the video to guide me through every step.

Just what I’ve been looking for. I have a RTW denim skirt like this that I wear all the time and I wanted to copy. (Of course the denim skirt has pockets, so I’ll have to add those in) Thanks so much.

I have a source for beautiful medium and heavy weight 100% Linen for less than $10.00 a yard at Fabrics-Store.com. I needed a pattern like this so that I could make a wardrobe of crisp linen skirts in a variety of colors at a reasonable cost. I can’t believe how perfectly this pattern is suited to use with linen! Now I’m searching for the perfect simple jacket to go with the skirt. Thank you from this easy-to-use pattern.

Thanks Deby.

Downloaded this yesterday and couldn’t make it unless I made it from curtaining material. Going shopping next week for fabric YAY! My friend dropped me some grey fine wool material this morning and guess what? I am wearing it!! Love it, it is so comfortable. Just spent ages trying to get a decent photo and when I uploaded to my PC I lost it. 🙁 Will try later when my son pops in as he is more technical than me. Thanks again, I am going to have a bash at your wrap top next. Joyce x

I’ll be making a bunch of these soon, I think!

Can I ask about the top that you’re wearing with the gray skirt, is that one of your patterns? I hope so; I need a pattern like that!

No, I bought that one, and it promptly almost fell to pieces the first time I washed it. Reminded me why I rarely buy and RTW clothes here on Cayman, such poor quality.
