--smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 635\/566;\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"635\" height=\"566\" src=\"https:\/\/so-sew-easy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Print-settings.jpg\" alt=\"Print-settings\" class=\"wp-image-17859\" srcset=\"https:\/\/so-sew-easy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Print-settings.jpg 635w, https:\/\/so-sew-easy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Print-settings-300x267.jpg 300w, https:\/\/so-sew-easy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Print-settings-500x446.jpg 500w, https:\/\/so-sew-easy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Print-settings-150x134.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 635px) 100vw, 635px\" \/><\/noscript><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The recommendation on the ready-made print sheets I used from June Tailor <span style=\"color: #333333;\">(Amazon&nbsp;<\/span><a style=\"color: #0d85cc;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B003W0ZC5S\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B003W0ZC5S&linkCode=as2&tag=soseea-20&linkId=IVMWDR7APW6CWYL5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">US here&nbsp;<\/a><span style=\"color: #333333;\">and&nbsp;<\/span><a style=\"color: #0d85cc;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/gp\/product\/B003W0ZC5S\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1634&creative=19450&creativeASIN=B003W0ZC5S&linkCode=as2&tag=soseea0f-21&linkId=Q22W5X6WV44ZYAII\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UK here<\/a>) recommended &#8216;standard' high quality print settings and indeed that is what I found to work best across all the methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My suggestions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Print in color for a color design or switch settings to black and white settings for black only printing<\/li><li>Go with your &#8216;standard' printer paper settings and set it to print on regular paper, not photo paper<\/li><li>Go with high quality rather than draft or fast print settings<\/li><li>Use a good quality ink, ideally manufacturer cartridges rather than knock-off refills for best color<\/li><li>Be prepared to test and see what settings work best for you &#8211; every printer is different!<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Will the print fade if you wash it?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ah, the big elephant in the room we've not talked about until now. &nbsp;Just how washable will your home-printed fabric be? &nbsp;Well, that depends on your ink. &nbsp;There are apparently two sorts of ink &#8211; color: #000000;\">Pigment<\/strong>&nbsp;inks are water resistant, so they will not wash away from your fabric. A small amount will rinse away on the first wash, but there should only be slight fading. &nbsp;Pigment based inks are also usually UV resistant so the printing won't fade in the sun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #000000;\">Dye<\/strong>&nbsp;inks are not water resistant on their own, and the ink WILL wash out and MAY also fade over time in the sunlight. &nbsp;However you can&nbsp;use the pre-treated colorfast fabric sheets to reduce this. &nbsp;Follow the instructions on these sheets carefully to get the best results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are also other products on the market to pre-treat your fabric and make the dye based ink stick &#8211; try Bubble Jet Set &nbsp;(<a style=\"color: #743399;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00114TEGA\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00114TEGA&linkCode=as2&tag=soseea-20&linkId=ZUXWIV2MQZIDLSUG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amazon US<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;or&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #743399;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/gp\/product\/B00114TEGA\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1634&creative=19450&creativeASIN=B00114TEGA&linkCode=as2&tag=soseea0f-21&linkId=BLIPUJ6LCQNX2AZE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amazon UK<\/a>). &nbsp;Anyone used this before to treat your fabric prior to printing?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can't necessarily tell which your printer or cartridge is using. &nbsp;I am using genuine Canon printer inks so I thought, those are good quality, I should be OK.
