But I found that using snap fasteners helped me simplify my projects and enjoy the process more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Bit Of History<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have been following this blog for a while you would know that I love history.&nbsp; This invention we owe to the Chinese, the oldest samples of metal rivet snap fasteners&nbsp;go back to the 210 B.C. belonging to the military.&nbsp; You know those Terracotta warriors discovered by farmers in 1974?&nbsp; &#8211;maybe some of you have had the chance to see them in person.&nbsp; Those were the type of warriors using these fasteners on their army uniform if you can believe it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Modern snap fasteners are attributed to two guys in two different countries: In Denmark to Bertel Sanders and in Germany to Heribert Bauer who in 1885 was awarded a patent for the invention of this most useful little gadget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We owe press snap fasteners&nbsp;in clothing with a pearly cap to the founder of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rockmount.com\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rochmount Ranch Wear<\/a>, the American&nbsp;Jack Weil, who also holds the interesting distinction of having been the oldest living CEO of a company, he died in 2008 at the age of 106.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are five companies that I know of that make good quality snaps fasteners&nbsp;kits these days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;Prym<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>For&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2GL1MPH\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thick clothing<\/a>.<\/li><li>For<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2Hik5Nc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> jersey knits.<\/a><\/li><li>For <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2IBNIIO\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sport and handbags<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dritz<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2uSN0VA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Color snaps fasteners<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Kamsnaps<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2weoAXp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Assorted colors<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kin.cz\/en\/products\/textile-haberdashery\/snap-fasteners\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Koh-I-Noor&nbsp;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Koh-I-Noor, the lesser-known of the five, is an art supplies company known all over the world mostly for their inks.&nbsp; They make a snap fastener kit made in the Czech Republic and I found one on my <a href=\"https:\/\/so-sew-easy.com\/fabric-hunting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fabric hunting trip to Estonia<\/a>.&nbsp; The quality is absolutely superb.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stoffkleks.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Stoffekleks<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The new kid on block in my database is this German company with top of the line products.&nbsp;
