As many readers know, we have had a push messaging platform in place on So Sew Easy for quite some time.\u00a0 This platform allows readers who choose to receive them, to get short, instant messages whenever something new is posted on the site.\u00a0 Many, many readers liked this service, in fact, we had about 30,000 subscribers<\/strong> signed up.<\/p>\n

However, we had two problems with the old service<\/a>:<\/p>\n

  1. It was quite hard to unsubscribe.\u00a0 If readers clicked to try the service and then decided not to continue, it was relatively hard to work out how to do this.<\/li>\n
  2. It was very expensive.\u00a0 We have a very large subscriber base and there was a fee for each subscriber which added up very quickly.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The good news, however, is that we have found a new and better provider of push messaging that solves both of those issues.<\/p>\n

    And mercifully, this system is a lot less expensive than our older system.\u00a0 We give away almost everything on our site so keeping our costs under control is pretty important for us, as you can imagine.<\/p>\n

    If you're an existing\u00a0push subscriber, you'll need to accept push messages again on your computer –but that's only a couple of clicks.\u00a0 If you're a new subscriber and would like to try it, just follow the instructions below:<\/p>\n

    1. Click the allow button to use the new system<\/h2>\n

    2. Then acknowledge the request in your browser<\/h2>\n

    3. Unsubscribing is now very easy<\/h2>\n

    If you don't want to receive these message anymore, just click the red button on the lower right side of the screen to turn push messaging on or off at any time.\u00a0 It's that simple!<\/p>\n

    Unfortunately, this service is only available on desktop PCs and Android<\/a> mobiles.\u00a0 Apple, with their iOS operating system on iPhone and iPad,\u00a0is very closed\u00a0since they want to be the only one to control any messaging to the end users.\u00a0 This is disappointing because a huge percentage of our readers use iPhones and iPads but there's nothing we can do.<\/p>\n

    I would suggest signing up for the newsletter or comment on a post where you can select to get email updates when anything new posts.<\/p>\n
