Stabilizer, stabilizer, stabilizer. This will make or break your applique. If you attempt to applique without a stabilizer you will be extremely frustrated with the puckers, sewing, and skipping of stitches. Paper towels are the easiest thing you can use, and they work great. Try to match your thread as closely as possible. Sometimes you can go a shade darker because it actually looks lighter once the thread is in the applique. These can be found at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anrdoezrs.net\/links\/7948432\/http:\/\/www.joann.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Joann's <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anrdoezrs.net\/links\/7948432\/http:\/\/www.hancockfabrics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hancocks<\/a>. I use them for all my appliques. Machine settings \u2013 I set my machine to zigzag with a stitch width of 2 and a length of about 0.4. You want a nice thin zigzag. If you use a wide zigzag, it can show flaws and look wonky. I have a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/s\/?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&linkCode=ur2&pageMinusResults=1&suo=1383843280018&tag=soseea-20&url=search-alias%3Daps#\/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_7?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=bernina%20sewing%20machines&sprefix=bernina%2Caps%2C213&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Abernina%20sewing%20machines&sepatfbtf=true&tc=1383843282202\" target=\"_blank\">Bernina sewing machine<\/a>, so you might need to tweak these settings just a tad for other brands of sewing machines.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>6. \u00a0Go fast around curves. \u00a0This sounds completely counter intuitive, but it's true. \u00a0The faster you go around curves, the smoother and nicer they look.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>Instructions<\/b><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>1. Make sure you like how they look before you iron. \u00a0Then, iron the appliques into place. Just set the iron on each section, do not move the iron as you applique or can move your designs.
