free pattern via Craftsy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Where will you find the patterns and downloads<\/h2>\n<p>Over the last 18 months, as the site has evolved, I've tried various different options for the best and most reliable way to bring you access to downloads and patterns. \u00a0I've tried Dropbox and Google Drive for documents and spreadsheets, and <a href=\"https:\/\/payhip.com\/soseweasy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Payhip<\/a> for patterns and tutorials. \u00a0The Payhip platform caters to high traffic and has been the most successful and reliable for me.<\/p>\n<p>But no one way has proved to be trouble-free for all users and this seems to be simply because of the huge variety of ways in which readers try to access, download, and print the patterns.<\/p>\n<h2>Which Devices to Use<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-8906 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/so-sew-easy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/mobile-devices-300x229.png\" alt=\"mobile-devices\" width=\"300\" height=\"229\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/229;\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-8906\" src=\"https:\/\/so-sew-easy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/mobile-devices-300x229.png\" alt=\"mobile-devices\" width=\"300\" height=\"229\" \/><\/noscript>Almost all of the problems with downloading and printing are coming from users with mobile devices. \u00a0These are now a really popular way of browsing the internet but are really intended for just that &#8211; browsing. \u00a0Once you try to use the same mobile devices for file management, downloading, and printing &#8211; then the problems begin. \u00a0Many mobile devices and browsers are not optimised to download all document types, so while you may be able to download e-books to your reader, you may NOT be able to download and open .zip files. \u00a0And printing is another problem.<\/p>\n<p>So, I highly recommend that if you want to download a pattern, document, spreadsheet etc, that you use a &#8216;regular' computer to get the easiest and most trouble-free results. \u00a0Use a laptop, or a desktop computer, or one at the office instead of your Smart Phone or Ipad etc. \u00a0Technology will no doubt evolve and improve over time, but for now, if you have trouble with your mobile device, it probably doesn't have the apps\/software you need for what you are trying to do. \u00a0Switch to a regular computer and browser such as Chrome.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UPDATE:<\/strong> \u00a0WINZIP and others are now available for Ipads and Android, but you need to have the app on your device <em>before<\/em> downloading will work. \u00a0Check out these links:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>WINZIP \u2013 app for Galaxy <a title=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.winzip.android&hl=en_GB\" href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.winzip.android&hl=en_GB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.winzip.android&hl=en_GB<\/a><\/li>\n<li>For IPAD &#8211; <a title=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/zip-viewer-archiver-manager\/id603570331?mt=8\" href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/zip-viewer-archiver-manager\/id603570331?mt=8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/zip-viewer-archiver-manager\/id603570331?mt=8<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<h2>What Software Do You Need?<\/h2>\n<p>It depends on what you are downloading.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spreadsheets<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I do offer some spreadsheets I think you will find useful for sewing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Leggings Pattern and tutorial\" href=\"https:\/\/so-sew-easy.com\/leggings-pattern-tutorial\/\">How to make a custom fit pattern for leggings<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Making a pencil skirt sloper and the resulting skirt\" href=\"https:\/\/so-sew-easy.com\/making-a-pencil-skirt-sloper\/\">How to draw a custom fit skirt pattern<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Continuous Bias Binding Calculator\" href=\"https:\/\/so-sew-easy.com\/continuous-bias-binding-calculator\/\">How to calculate continuous bias binding sizes<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These will need to open in a spreadsheet program, such as MS Excel, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.openoffice.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Open Office Calc<\/a>, MS Works.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PDF Files<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/get.adobe.com\/reader\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-8904 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/so-sew-easy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/reader_windows.gif\" alt=\"reader_windows\" width=\"316\" height=\"130\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 316px; This is a standard file type used for sharing, and is easily opened with free software from Adobe. \u00a0Most computers will come with Adobe Reader installed, so when you click a PDF file it will open automatically. \u00a0But if yours doesn't or you need to upgrade to the latest version (highly recommended), then you can download Adobe Reader for free from here &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/get.adobe.com\/reader\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ADOBE READER<\/a>. \u00a0If you want to print some of the free sewing patterns, they require the poster printing option which is only available in more recent upgrades so if you have trouble &#8211; upgrade to the latest version.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ZIP Files<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nchsoftware.com\/zip\/index.html?gclid=COSW0qzx37wCFY1cMgodvAoAHg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8902 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/so-sew-easy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/demo.jpg\" alt=\"demo\" width=\"330\" height=\"259\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/so-sew-easy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/demo.jpg 330w, https:\/\/so-sew-easy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/demo-300x235.jpg 300w, https:\/\/so-sew-easy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/demo-150x118.jpg 150w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 330px) 100vw, 330px\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 330px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 330\/259;\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8902\" src=\"https:\/\/so-sew-easy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/demo.jpg\" alt=\"demo\" width=\"330\" height=\"259\" srcset=\"https:\/\/so-sew-easy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/demo.jpg 330w, https:\/\/so-sew-easy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/demo-300x235.jpg 300w, https:\/\/so-sew-easy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/demo-150x118.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 330px) 100vw, 330px\" \/><\/noscript><\/a>Zip files are needed where a pattern contains two or more documents. \u00a0To make printing easier, I usually include one PDF document with the sewing instructions and notes, and another separate PDF document with the pattern pieces for printing. \u00a0For you to get these files in a single download, they are &#8216;zipped' \u00a0together into a file with a .zip at the end.<\/p>\n<p>To open the PDF documents, you first need to &#8216;un-zip' the file. \u00a0Again, many computers will come with the right software to do this already installed, so double-clicking the file will take care of the unzipping, \u00a0But if not, you can use programs such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.winzip.com\/win\/en\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WinZip<\/a>, or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nchsoftware.com\/zip\/index.html?gclid=COSW0qzx37wCFY1cMgodvAoAHg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Express Zip<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>If things still aren't working<\/h2>\n<p>Please watch the video above and see if you can follow through my instructions. \u00a0If you still can't download or open the pattern, where to go to get more help:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Your IT friends<\/strong> &#8211; got a friend or colleague who knows about this sort of stuff?
