I just wanted to let everyone know that we have published a video tutorial for sewing the Culottes Tutorial on our YouTube channel.
While this is a pretty easy sewing project, I wanted to talk a little more about fabric selection which is particularly important with this design. Also, there were some steps that were a little complicated to describe in writing so the video will really come in handy. I had promised this video to quite a few of our readers some time ago so my apologies for how long it has taken me to do it.
If you haven't downloaded this free pattern already, please check it out because culottes, one of the most trendy styles of the 50's and 60's, are back! fyi, “Culotte” is a French word that means the lower part of a garment or knee-breeches.
There are a couple of things I really like about this culottes tutorial and pattern –there is an option of adding front pockets to the pants without adding bulk to the tummy and you can easily transform them into long pants by adding length at the hem.
Please enjoy and don't forget to Like and Subscribe over on YouTube. We really appreciate it.

Buttilicious friendly culottes! Just what I always needed. Never have had the best success with regular culottes or pants. Looking forward to seeing this miracle. Thanks a lot.
Hi Emma, please let me know how they turn out.
This video is very helpful. What is a 3 step zig zag? How wide should that be?
I three step zigzag is found in some sewing machines next to the normal zigzag, use a medium size more or less the size of an overlocker finish stitch.
Hi there all, I’m in desperate need of help. I got this pattern for culottes just perfect for the warmer weather in Australia. But absolutely can not figure out the sizing. Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks
I understand the difference between inches and centimetres.
Hi Kim, I use finish measurements, follow the size you use normally, the lower waist measurement is there so you can check your measurements against the chart and choose the right size for your body type. Some people have a very small waist compare to their hips. This are a buttilicious friendly pair of cullotes. Enjoy!
Love the video. This really helps with the written tutorial and pattern. Thanks so much for making it.
