NEW Singer Quantum Stylist 9985 Computerized Sewing Machine Giveaway

It's time for another giveaway! – just in time for summer.  It's been almost six months since our last giveaway where Kathy P. from Secaucus, New Jersey won the new Husqvarna Viking Jade 20 sewing machine.

And this time, have we've got something very special for you.

The Singer Quantum Stylist 9985 is considered by some to be the best sewing machine ever made (at it's price point, of course). Even being compared to some Bernina's which sell for thousands more. It's actually hard for me to say this since you know how much I love Bernina..

This machine has a crazy 960 built-in stitches and can sew at 850 stitches per minute. It is perfect for both beginners and more experienced sewists and comes from one of the most storied brands in sewing machines — Singer.

About Singer

Singer Corporation is an American manufacturer of consumer sewing machines, first established as I. M. Singer & Co. in 1851 by Isaac M. Singer with New York lawyer Edward C. Clark. Best known for its sewing machines, it was renamed Singer Manufacturing Company in 1865, then the Singer Company in 1963. It is based in La Vergne, Tennessee, near Nashville. Its first large factory for mass production was built in 1863 in Elizabeth, New Jersey.[1]

I would use the Quantum Stylist 9985 Computerized Sewing Machine to create unique fashions that I don’t see anywhere else. I know that it would give me the freedom to explore the ideas I have not just for clothing, but for making art quilts, fabric journals, and adding fabrics to traditional journals and creative bookmaking.

I do not agree with the above comments. I have a crack in the plastic where you start to thread the machine. I have contacted singer, with no results. I would never buy another singer machine. Singer does not look after the customers that have issues with this machine. On another site I have seen many complaints about this machine.

Very unusual pattern, nice colors, it’s temptating. I guess I’d make the “It’s a Wrap” top, and maybe a variation of the Easy Sweater for Non-knitters (short sleeves?), both your free patterns.

Karen Christensen

a pair of leggings

I have an earlier version of this machine and I love it. It has a lot of features only found on higher end machines, comes with a lot of feet – and lots more are available. BUT it does NOT have 960 stitiches. They consider every variation of each stitch – wider, narrower, etc to be another stitch. I don´t think that is an honest way to present a machine. Other machines do NOT do that. The machine is good enough on it´s own without having to distort the truth.

I can see this fabric as an everyday or even dressy T-shirt. I love how colorful it is and could match so many solid bottoms. I would also like this as a sleep shirt or as a tank & shorts pj set. The cotton stretch would be comfortable & fabric is lightweight which I prefer for summer nights in the South.

That pattern is super bold, but if it’s jersey, it’d make a nice light flowy short summer robe
