Your clothes are great and you always look beautiful in them. Do you have instructions, or know where to find some, explaining how to modify patterns made for knit fabric to woven fabric? We don’t all have an hourglass shape like yours, sad to say. Keep up the good work!
That is something I’ve never tried. I think patterns are best used with their recommended fabrics because I know with my own patterns, the fit for a stretch fabric is very different to a woven, and especially because there are no darts etc that would be needed to give shape to a woven garment. It wouldn’t simply be as easy as adding on say 10% to the size, because a knit pattern molds to the body in a way the same garment in a woven would not. Sorry.
Hi Deby, so jealous! I adore Grand Cayman. Have friends who live on the island and have had a few holidays there staying with them. Fab to get away from the British weather! Looking forward to learning more about my passion in life – sewing. I have not been sewing for very long but just love it and have to do some every single day!!
Kali
Hi Deb! I have been following you for a long time & have a lot of your patterns which I just LOVE ! So I thought it about time I signed up. Thank you , Venessa from South Africa

Hi, I want to learn so much cute things, thank’s for sharing.
Thank you for letting me join…. Love the patterns and especially the tutorials.
I was looking for a website just like this one I’m so glad that I signed-up
Lots and lots of great stuff on this site
Thanks very much Mary, and hopefully more to come. See you for the newsletter on Sunday.
Love your site and all of your videos. I will make the cute cosmetic bag. Thanks. Anita
Thanks, Deby! Appreciate your response so quickly!
Wanted the Applique Let’s Build A Snowman tablerunner pattern, but find it is no longer available on Craftsy!
I guess the kit is sold out at present, probably because people went crazy for it at Christmas. You could always send Craftsy an email, or if you are enrolled in the class, you can use the pattern supplied to make your own kit. The pattern is part of the class so you don’t have to buy any kit if you would be happy making it up yourself in your own choice of fabrics.
Im glad look forward to hearing from you Deby
I sent the reply back to you on YouTube yesterday Maggie. Please check it out there, or if you can’t find it, let me know and I’ll resend to your email.
Hi there Deby I have sent you an email . Did you recive it yet. I am in Australia. If you did not receive please let me know and I will resend. thankyou Maggie
Yes I got the message from YouTube. I’ll do you a reply today.
Hello Deby
thank you for a very interesting site. i have chanced across you while searching for simple sundress patterns, so i think some of your dresses will fit the bill perfectly. I have inherited lots of fabric from Mum, who loved to sew and also taught me. I need lots more practice to be in her league though as i haven’t sewn clothes since my teens. (wont say how long ago THAT was!)
Your instructions look brilliant, cant wait to try them!
Sorry if this is a stupid question – but do you design any dresses in woven fabric? Too hot & humid in Sydney summer for ANY type of knit fabric – thought would be too hot in Cayman too? I might have to wait till autum or spring to wear them!
Sandra
I tend to wear more knits actually, and very little in the way of woven, but that is also because my weight is changing a lot over the last few years – always upwards – due to a medical condition so I find knits more comfortable and can wear them over a longer period than I can a woven dress, which I quickly ‘grow out of’. I do have some skirts in a woven and a couple of tops I think, but mostly its stretch for me right now.
Ghanés for inviting me to participare
Debby
Thanks for having me, I’ve just started sewing again. I use to work in a sewing factory for yrs. but sewing at home is a lot different. Learning how to read patterns is what I have a problem with but with some practice maybe I’ll get better.
Loved The video of the tiny zipper bags – I need to start sewing again. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank u
Thank you so much for inviting me…I look forward to making some of the free patterns that you sent me…..You got some great stuff girl…
Thanks for the invite getting back to my first love sewing and all the tips help there are so many new things and gadgets I started sewing in high school and never really stopped had some health problems the last few years but now ready to begin
I have been out of the sewing loop for a few months due to losing my husband to cancer in September, giving up my house end of November, moving 800 miles from said house. I did try your flippy skirt pattern. Great skirt!
Oh dear you have been through a very rough time recently. I feel for you. I hope you’ll soon be feeling inspired to get back into sewing and in the meantime, its great to have you following along.
I love your patterns and Penelope!! Thanks for reminding me you’re out there!
I didn’t realize that I haven’t been opening your email. I go to your blog site almost every day to keep up. Please keep me on your list.
Not a problem Becky, good to know you are still following along. You’re on the list.
Thanks for the invite Debbie. You are so talented! Just finished rounds of chemo, so I should be on the mend soon to start sewing again.
I was surprised to get this email since I ALWAYS read your emails and often click on your projects. Happy sewing! I have some fixing/mending to do!
The email you received is triggered when the email tracking sees that you’ve not clicked on anything for 2 months or more. It’s good to check that people are still interested, I don’t want to be cluttering up the inbox of people who don’t want to hear from me any more. But its great that you are still following along and I look forward to sharing more fun stuff with you each week.
I enjoy seeing the wee stuffed animals to make fo rthe kids and well also my self, I have been sewing a lot and now would rather quilt and do other things then sew clothing, I hope though that if something comes up I can help out. take care everyone and thank you Debbie. stay warm I am in Montana with snow and minus temps. but I am used to it. hugs Jeanne
Thanks for your sharing 🙂
Thank You for inviting me! I`m looking forward to seeing what You are up to in the future!
I want to star sewing garments for myself. After designing and sewing many costumes for school plays, some casts were over 100, I think it is time!
Thanks for inviting me Debby. I love sewing and I have joined sewing class recently. Am lucky to have come across your site. Its wonderful for a beginner like me. Looking forward to making up some of your patterns..
Thanks for the invite, look forward to having a good look around and see what you get up to… in the nicest possible way!
Thank you for inviting me …I Love your work…Hugs May x x
Thank you for inviting me to join. I love sewing. Cant wait to start on,some of your wonderful patterns. Sew excited to get started.
I can hardly wait to get started but I’m only 2 weeks into a 6 week cast on my right broken thumb and wrist!! I love to sew and your great patterns…I can’t wait but I guess I’ll have to!! Thank you Carolyn
Oh Darn, hope you get back into it soon – I’d go crazy!
please include a video of a diaper bag, pleeeeese???
I got your message Penni and can tell you are really keen to get a diaper bag pattern! Because of the amount of work that would go into this project, I’d have to make it a paid pattern and tutorial. A bit like the Carry All Bag – that was a marathon of more than 60 hours work (see how a bag is designed here). With so many other free designs for diaper bags out there, I’m not sure it would sell any patterns and that’s a lot of work for no sales 🙁 Maybe if you can send me some photos and other details of what the very best diaper bag in the world would look like, I could give it a look over, but it certainly wouldn’t be coming out very soon because of all the work to go into developing the pattern. Sorry.
I LOVE EVERYTHING YOU SHARE WITH US…thank you!!!
Love the site, love the show.
Thank You for inviting me! I`m looking forward to seeing what You are up to in the future!
Thank you for inviting me to join. I’m looking forward to making up some of your patterns:)
