This group is awesome! I have been sewing for many years. I will be 60 in November and when I was 9 my mother sat down with me and showed me how to make a pair of shorts. There was enough material left over that the next day while my mother was at work (she worked 34 years in a sewing factory), I cut out the top to match the shorts and was busy working on making it when she got home! I have been sewing every since. I am right now making a halter top for my cousin and she could not find an exact like in a pattern for tops, but did find a dress that she liked the top of. Well, being the person I am that loves to learn and do, I told her I would cut it down to make it a top. The pattern is cut out, I have started sewing and hope to have it finished tomorrow. I will try to take some pictures of it and post them. It has not been “a piece of cake” thus far, but not too bad over all. We shall see how it all goes together. I love meeting new people who love sewing and creating. I hope we can all learn something new. Thank you for the wonderful group and all the neat things you are doing to help everyone learn and improve their sewing skills. Sewing is such an awesome craft to know and I just want to say Thank You for being here to help so many people!
Looking forward to the sew- along.
thanks,
Dottie

Oh GREAT….just GREAT. Yet another place to look “just for one quick second” and get lost for long, lazy, wonderful, glorious hours. Poor poor me. Sigh.
Oh dear Judi, I do apologise! I know exactly what you mean. Thanks for visiting and staying a while 🙂
You have a lovely site!
Thanks so much Anita, thank you for visiting.
Hi I am newly retired and have just found your bag tutorials. I have not made anything since my teens, so I am so looking forward to sewing along with you. I find getting nice fabrics so difficult these days so I think this could be my biggest barrier to making clothes. Once again thank you so much.
Love the site. I haven’t sewn since high school home economics class 35 years ago. I made the 30 minute skirt and received many compliments!!! I look forward to learning from everyone.
That’s wonderful Carla, isn’t it great when someone compliments what you made.
There are a lot of wonderful things here to see, make and reflect on. Working on short term projects as my work and mother-in-law, grandmother life is very busy.
This is like “take me away the favorite bath product.” A must read.
I love your site and had learnt a lot of sewing tips from you. I just finished sewing make up bag with brush roll attachment and it turned out to be just fine. Thank you Debbie.
Wonderful Susheela. Do you have any photos to share? We’d all love to see what you made with the pattern. Join us over in the sewing chat group for 24hr seiwng inspiration 🙂
Love your website and hope to see some doll clothes ideas in the future for myself and any others who love dolls and sew for them (for daughters, granddaughters and nieces)!!
Hello all, I am pleased I have joined and I am certainly going to give it a try and make something. I just lack a little confidence that’s all. I knit and crochet so sewing clothes is a new venture for me. xx
Thanks Deby. I like your blogs.
I can just say that I love knowing there are so many people that love doing what i do
Hi, I just came across your wrap dress and now I want to try it. First time with knit fabric (which I still have to buy). Wish me luck!
JOhanna
i just signed up but have been wanting to make a dress for awhile. in 1970 made a few clothes but not since. however I started piecing quils a few years ago and have gotten the sewing bug again and clothes/dresses/skirts etc sew up quicker than a big quilt. (one question, when I tried to “download” doc to PDF, I was afraid because it tried to change my browser. is that normal? i’m on a laptop. I look forward to all the patterns. I would like a long dress flowing with a flowing over jacket. maybe.
Hi Linda. When you click on the download link in most of my pattern articles, it takes you over to Craftsy where you add the pattern to your cart and ‘check out’ although there is nothing to pay for the free patterns. This then saves them in your pattern library with Craftsy so you can access them at any time. When you are ready to sew, download from Craftsy then to your computer and open with Adobe Reader. Here is an article about how to download and print that you might find useful – so-sew-easy.com/download-print-pdf-sewing-patterns/
Have been sewing for years for my Mom and myself. I am now only making doll clothes for the 18 inch dolls. I have 4 dolls and they are my daughters since I had only boys (5). Thanks Deby for the free dress pattern. Am looking forward to more of the same. If you can find a Red Riding Hood Cape and Hood pattern for the 18 dolls, I would appreciate it. Love and happy sewing to all, Norma normasdollbooutique
