I recently posted about my first ever bra I've sewn following after watching the Bra Making class on Craftsy – you can read about it here if you missed it. Both here and on Facebook, people asked about where they could buy these specialist supplies, in the US and elsewhere because you don't often find everything you need in your local sewing shop.
I can't get what I need here on Cayman at all – well, my local shop does sell bra underwires but only in one size , and it's not mine. They also sell replacement hooks and things for bra repair but not really all the supplies you need if you are going to sew your own from scratch.
So enjoy my extensive online research and hopefully somewhere here you will find the right supplier for you, wherever you are. Remember that many of these specialist suppliers are used to dealing with overseas customers and offer international shipping options. Bra supplies and small and light, not expensive to send.
These are listed according to the country where they are based, but many may ship to you if you somewhere else.

The Cheeky Panties pattern – if you've never made your own undies then this could be a good place to start. This pattern is an oldie but a goodie on the site.
Make your own mesh bag to store, or wash your undies – this mesh fabric is easier to sew with than you might think.
If you know of any other bra making supplies stores online, do let me know so I can add them to the list.

In the UK I have found Fit2sew a really good supplier of kits and notions for Pin Up Girls patterns which are very useful for Beverley Johnson’s Craftsy class. Mandy who runs the site has a very interesting and informative blog there too. After following Beverley’s class I was delighted to find a UK source of materials.
Love So Sew Easy too!
I keep getting told the fabric most people use to sew their bras is douplex….yet I cant find this fabric so much. Most site tell me its not found.
HI, Carol, it is a bit hard to find both Douplex and Simplex simply because you need to buy from the manufacturers who will sell by thousands of meters, you can try and do a search on Etsy. There are very good alternatives such as powernet, lycra, stretch lace, woven cotton or a stretch fabric, woven silk and satin with spandex, and stretch lace is a popular stretch fabric for bra making.
Help! some of can not sew! (Some of us can’t even spell it I guess!) But we still need bras please recommend people who can make or fix the ones I already have. Please help. Desperate for a bra that fits.
This isn’t really something you can arrange online. If you want someone to sew a custom fit bra for you, then you’ll need to find someone in your local area who can personally take the exact measurements, make a test, fit it to your body etc, before making up the right size and styles for you. I suggest asking at your local sewing shops and see if they know someone who could do this for you. Good luck with your search.
I’ve Been a big fan of Beverly Johnson’s classes out of Bra Makers Supply, Hamilton, Canada, for a few years now. I would strongly suggest you write to her on the email address on her webpage with your fitting issues. I know she, or one of the other highly trained ladies who work there, will help you get the right fit. I highly recommend her Shelley bra pattern as it has a 4 piece cup with the upper cup in stretch lace. It really does fit much, much better, and with the stretch lace, it also accommodates monthly breast size fluctuations without spillover.
Thanks for the list… I’m making swimwear in the Uk and it’s a big help!
Hey Deb,
Here’s one, more state-side supplier that I know of. They have been in business for many years and have an excellent online catalog. http://www.laceheaven.com.
I’m so glad you put this list together, it reminds me that I really want to make my own bra. The one I’m really liking is a downloadable from Make Bra. Their patterns are so pretty.
Have a wonderful day.
