Hi I have a necchi NM 2000 and I can’t get the free motion embroidery working, every time I set up the machine with thread and bobbin I come to sew and no stitches. I learned to sew in third grade when my grandmother gave me a piece of material and wanted me to make something. I used my mother’s Necchi she bought in the early 1950’s. She is 90 and continues to sew on that machine. After I graduated from college and living away from home, she found a used Necchi NORA series for me. I believe it was also from the 1950’s. Many nights, when my children were young I would stay up late sewing new clothes for picture day at school. Now I sew for my grandchildren. I have been sewing on it for the past 40 years.

I have a Necchi 544, which I bought in Nov., 1966, and I’m still using it. It was $350-which was very expensive for the time, but I won $100 off by signing up at the county fair. It has been very durable. I never was happy with the built in buttonhole system, but I bought myself a buttonhole attachment which I use instead.
I learned to sew on my mother’s Necchi machine, way back when I was in 3rd grade, in the late 1950s. That machine was a workhorse, as my mother made all our school clothes when we were little (and there were 7 of us!), and my sister and I made all our clothes from about 7th grade onward.
